This is another special blog. It will be about my experiences, thoughts and insights from the cyber fair competition. But before I start, I will tell you something about this competition. Cyber fair is a competition that will enhance your skills in coding html, css and javascript. It will also improve your creativity and teamwork. The said competition is divided into 8 main categories. The first one is the Local Leaders. It is to design a web site that spotlights famous or important people in your community. Second one is the Community Groups and Special Populations. Design a website that showcases unique, interesting or specific community populations is the main objective for this category. The third one is Businesses and Organizations. The main objective is to design a website that showcases local businesses or organizations. Number four on our list is the Local Specialties, Sports and Health. It is to Design a website that showcases local specialties and unique items or things produced, grown, or raised in your community or design a website that showcases local or unique sports, games or health programs. Fifth one is Local Attractions. The main goal is to design a website that showcases local natural and man-made attractions. The sixth one is Historical Landmarks. Design a Web site that documents and showcases local historical landmarks is the main objective. Number seven on our list is the Environmental Awareness and Issues. For this category, it is focused on designing a website that exposes local environmental concerns or that highlights special efforts to promote a sense of awareness and action. The last but not the least is the Local Culture, Music and Art Forms. The main goal for this category is to design a website that showcases local music and musicians or art forms that are important elements of the community experience.
I would just like to thank http://www.cyberfair.ph for providing the necessary information.
Now that I have already stated the objectives and the categories (sorry if the category part is so long J), time for our group’s topic. Let us take a look in category 4 (Local Specialties, Sports and Health). We had picked sports, to be specific, biking. We picked biking because we want the people of Baguio to engage in this sport perfect for the terrain and climate in Baguio. It will also lessen the pollution caused by cars, jeepneys, buses and other more. It will also help us bring back the title “The cleanest and greenest city in the Philippines”. To help us in our project is a group of bikers also known as the Daily Cycle Movement. Let me enlighten you with this little background of the group.
The Daily Cycle Movement (DCM) is an environmental movement composed of people who are actively advocating for a better environment in Baguio City. These individuals believe that through each person’s effort, lifestyle, and transport choices, Baguio can be a livable, environmentally-sustainable city; as a result, its residents will enjoy a better quality of life.
Objectives
1.to influence public policy and opinion on the importance of walking, bicycling, public transport and other sustainable modes of transportation,
2.to promote responsible bicycling and put forward the rights of pedestrians and cyclists on the road, and
3.to sponsor fun environmental cycling events in Baguio.
The Daily Cycle Movement (established April 2008) was inspired by and is affiliated with the Firefly Brigade of Manila.
The current coordinators of the Daily Cycle Movement:
Jim Ward
Moved to Baguio from Manila four years ago with family, doggie Dimsum, and his three bicycles. He and his wife Shanti run Bliss—a veggie café and art space.
Bedejim Abdullah
Serves as Imam at the Philippine Military Academy and lectures on Islam at many different venues. Uses his mountain bike to traverse the terrain from PMA to Session Road and points in between.
Fara Manuel
moved to Baguio recently to take up a teaching position at UP Baguio and was glad to jump right in having been very active with the Firefly Brigade, Manila.

I would like to acknowledge this site http://bedejim.multiply.com for enlightening you readers on the background of the group.
Luckily, we are able to arrange a meeting with Sir Jim Ward. It was awesome. We learned a lot about the Daily Cycle movement, his purposes and goals in life. The bonding of our sections grew stronger. Our teamwork improved a lot and that is only the start. We got to be actors for the video of our project narrative.
